Mitac Motherboards

The industrial & embedded computer company has begun carrying motherboards by Mitac to fill the void left by Intel’s exit from the desktop motherboard market.

September 4, 2014 (SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT) - Aiming to assist clients in the transition from recently discontinued Intel desktop motherboards, industrial and embedded computer company OnLogic (www.onlogic.com) is now offering a range of successor boards from Mitac International. The new boards are designed to mirror the connectivity and capabilities of the discontinued Intel boards while also offering support of 64-bit systems and upgraded processing power.

“Mitac has a long history of providing reliable IPC components and these new board offerings come at the perfect time for many of our industrial clients,” said OnLogic Product Manager JP Ishaq. “As one of Intel’s original OEMs, Mitac is uniquely suited to produce motherboards that match the exiting Intel designs and capabilities to allow for users to make a smooth transition. As a long-standing Intel partner, many of Intel’s certifications directly carry over onto these new Mitac boards, making them the optimal choice for our customers.”

Last year, with Intel’s announcement that they would be halting desktop motherboard production, OnLogic began carrying the Mitac PD11TI as a successor to Intel’s DN2800MT Marshalltown board. Now, as the supply of available Intel-made boards begins to dry up, OnLogic is offering their clients the chance for an easy transition to a range of boards specifically designed to replace more of Intel’s end-of-life products.

The Mitac PD10BI motherboard is intended to offer an additional replacement option for the Intel DN2800MT. With only a slight increase in thermal design point (TDP), the PD10BI provides a significant boost in processing power with the inclusion of a quad-core Intel Bay Trail J1900 Celeron processor, a step up from the DN2800MT’s Cedarview CPU. Its Thin Mini-ITX form factor makes it ideal for space constrained industrial applications that still require a fully-featured PC. The included selection of low profile I/O features two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 high current ports, VGA, HDMI and LAN. The Thin Mini-ITX footprint provides dual PCIe Mini Card expansion slots, one of which doubles as an mSATA slot able to accommodate low profile, solid state storage.

Intended as an ideal replacement for the Intel D2500CCE Canoe Creek motherboard, the Mitac PD11BI packs a wide array of features, improved processing power, support for 63-bit operating systems, and a wealth of industrial connectivity into its compact Mini-ITX form factor. Featuring a quad-core Intel Bay Trail J1900 Celeron processor, the Mitac PD11BI is well suited for data acquisition, factory automation and other industrial applications where connectivity and performance are paramount. I/O options include two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, VGA, dual LAN, DVI, 2 RS-232 COM ports and dual PS/2 ports to offer legacy connectivity. Other onboard connections include S/PDIF, a parallel port, a PCIe slot and a full size PCIe Mini Card slot to allow for wireless card installation.

Compatible with the latest generation of Intel processors, the Haswell-powered Mitac PH12LI is the natural successor to the end-of-life Intel DQ77KB motherboard. Supporting processors up to 65 watts, the long lifecycle PH12LI is ideally suited for all-in-one systems, commercial desktop installations, digital signage, and kiosk applications. Mirroring the I/O options of Intel’s DQ77KB, the PH12LI features four USB 3.0 ports, a DisplayPort, dual LAN and HDMI. Expansion options include PCIe x 4, one full-height and one half-height PCIe Mini Card slots for use with additional I/O cards.

Each of these new Mitac motherboards carry the same certifications as the Intel boards they replace, including CE, FCC and UL, helping to alleviate regulatory concerns for customers transitioning from the discontinued Intel boards.
