Hi Antoine,
You will need to install the T7100 CPU (or any Socket P CPU that is still a Merom core) first, upgrade your BIOS to the version that supports the Penryn CPU, turn off the computer, install the T8300, then reboot.
If this seems costly, you can always buy the Celeron Mobile 540 processor (CM540) for cheaper than the T7100 and do the upgrade that way.

Hi Dave,
The MP965-DR will work with a Penryn T8300 as long as the latest BIOS is installed. If the MP965-DR has BIOS version 1.02 (which most of our stock still has), then you will have to update the BIOS to 1.06 or later for it to be compatible with the new Penryn chips.
We updated the BIOS, and the system worked fine.
You can download the latest BIOS from the AOpen Web site: http://usa.aopen.com/download.aspx

I currently use my Mini PC mounted in my glove box as my Car PC. However, I'll be picking a second unit up to act as a front end to my LinuxMCE server. I'm currently using modded xboxes as front ends to my MythTV server, but with the added functions of LinuxMCE I'll need the extra power provided by units like the MP965-DR in order to handle HD content.

I look forward to picking up one of my own!
